Project Overview

The scheme at Cardiff Waste Water Treatment Works involved the installation of new Surface Water Drainage under the existing Caking Plant within the works.

The working space available for Mid Glam Construction Operatives was extremely confined and limited to a couple of metres both horizontally and vertically. There was also an extensive network of both charted and un-charted Services present within the working area.

In order to overcome these site constraints Mid Glam Construction worked closely with Dŵr Cymru / Welsh Water to agree a method of working which would eliminate risks to Health and Safety and minimise the impact of the scheme which had to be carried out when the plant was "live" and fully operational.

Operatives received daily briefings from Dŵr Cymru / Welsh Water Staff on planned tanker movements within the work area and planned their work schedule to avoid these times.

Work Scope

  • Minor Demolitions of Existing Structures
